GIRLS FOOTBALL AT HILLYFIELDERS
List Title
Hillyfielders Girls Football Officer and team coach - Sylvia talks about girls footballs, its benefits and the aim for the clubs growing amount of girls teams.

The recent success of the Lionesses has put womens’ football in the spotlight and inspired more and more girls to play football. Sport is vital for physical and mental wellbeing; it's joyful and rewarding, building resilience and valuable skills in leadership and teamwork. However, nationally the level of girls taking part in sports, especially team sports, is lower compared with boys.
At Hillyfielders FC we want to change this, we believe in the importance of offering the girls in our community a fun and safe space to play football. We want to provide them with space to be themselves and be the best they can be. We believe in empowering them to grow in confidence and acquire skills that will help them not only in the pitch but throughout their lives.
We are extremely proud to have restarted our girls division since SELKENT stopped their girls football competition in 2006. In 2018 we put together the U12’s Kestrels team and joined the Tandridge League. Since then, we have grown to welcome four more teams and we have plans to keep growing.
We invite girls to come and try football for themselves - new players are always welcome at our Saturday training sessions; just get in touch to make arrangements. We are also always on the lookout for women to join our coaching team as well as supporting interested over-16s to qualify as referees.
